A cockfight is a blood sport between two roosters ( cock ) or more accurately gamecocks, held in a ring called a cockpit. Cockfighting is a blood sport due in some part to the physical trauma the cocks inflict on each other, which is sometimes increased for entertainment purposes by attaching metal spurs to the cocks' natural spurs. Often doped up on stimulants, the roosters are tormented into the anger by being held face-to-face and are after that dropped into a small pit to struggle against each other. The metal weapons which are worn by the roosters sink deep into the roosters’ flesh, in order that the handlers often need to pull them apart some times in a fight — whenever one rooster is not strong enough to pull free. Roosters who lose the fights are often known nothing more than trash and are thrown in "dead piles". Dead or dying, they are just thrown away.
